Trouble is brewing for reinstated Kerala DGP TP Senkumar once again. The LDF government has reportedly granted permission to prosecute the state’s top cop over a complaint that Senkumar allegedly harassed an officer.
Additional Inspector General, Police Headquarters Gopal Krishnan had filed a complaint when the last LDF government made Senkumar the Managing Director of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, reported Malayalam dailies. The tenure of the government led by CPI M leader VS Achuthanandan was from 2006 to 2011. He had alleged that Senkumar, who was then IG of the State Human Rights Commission had mentally harassed him and submitted fake reports against him when he was DySP of the SHRC.
He had given plea to prosecute Senkumar in 2012 during the tenure of the United Democratic Front government, but was rejected. Gopal Krishnan went on leave after Senkumar was reinstated as State DGP.
Days after the LDF came to power in 2016, it removed Senkumar from the post of DGP citing 'lapses in probing Puttingal Fire Work Tragedy and sensational Jisha murder case. The state government was, however, forced to reinstate Senkumar to the post on May 6 following the Supreme Court’s orders.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government removed advocate Harris Beeran, who represented Senkumar in the SC from the post of government pleader. Harris Beeran had been appearing for cases involving KSRTC. The order of his removal has been forwarded to the Managing Director of KSRTC, reported Manorama Online. Standing counsel in the High Court advocate John Mathew was also removed due to setbacks in 13 cases in a span of three months.
